See these days people are absolutely swamped with advertising. As a result they have their advertising radar turned way up and ignore most of what is screaming at them. If you think about it you can see yourself doing these everyday can’t you?
Well our goal from a marketing standpoint is to fly in under the radar and get their attention. But how right?
There are several ways but what I am about to share works plain and simple.
- First, mark up your ad. Use a sharpie and make it ugly. Circle the points underline works etc. Handwritten notes are great. Basicallly, make this thing look ugly and as far from polished professional as you can! People expect something clean looking and that is what they ignore so don’t do it!
- Second, yellow notebook paper that you write on and tear out of the notebook works like hot cakes! Yes it does. Who cares why just do it!
- Last, use lumpy mail. There is nothing new about this but again it is out of the ordinary so do it. Try taping a piece of candy to your letter and write a comment that says this deal is so SWEET you won’t be able to pass on it! One of the best I have seen although expensive is mailing a pair of socks with the letter. Include the message "What I am about to share with you will blow your socks off… so here’s another pair for you!" Might be work doing on a deal you just have to get!
Be unique. I have a great friend that puts out bandit signs that say "One Old Fart Needed To Buy One House!" Do you think his phone is ringing? You better believe it!
